The Cabarrus Genealogy Society published the first edition of its quarterly journal soon after organizing in June 1993. It was appropriately called The Cabarrus Genealogy Society Journal. The name later changed to The Cabarrus Golden Nugget to reflect the long history of gold mining in the county. A subscription to The Cabarrus Golden Nugget is provided with paid membership to Historic Cabarrus Association, Inc. We strive to feature a selection of original articles on Cabarrus County families and local history, historic preservation, methodology, resources, and the latest news from our partner organizations.
Due to increasing demand, we launched The Cabarrus Golden Nugget as a digital publication in the spring of 2020. Whether you are a resident of Cabarrus County or beyond, we will send you the latest issue of the Cabarrus Golden Nugget in .pdf format to your e-mail. Our goal is to better serve our membership by having a more immediate delivery system and eventually making issues, including back issues and other digital content, available through a Members Only area on our website.
We understand that some members prefer a traditional print copy, therefore, we will continue to have a print option at the Individual membership level or higher. To become a subscribing member, see the membership page.
Back issues of the journal are available at $5.00 each, plus shipping and handling. Some early print issues are sold out, but digital options are available.
We are always interested to receive submissions related to Cabarrus County history or genealogy for publication. Contact Denise McLain at historiccabarrus@gmail.com or cabarrusgenealogysociety@gmail.com.
